Meade was a pioneer in the field of motor bus and taxicab services, establishing the first of these in the United States in 1906. He was president and general manager of the New York Transportation Company, 1904-1918; president and general manager, Detroit Motor Bus Company, 1919-1921; and People's Motorbus Company of St. Louis, 1922-1931; and Consultant on Transportation, 1931-1933.
