Trefusis' manuscript records his impressions of the Soviet Union during his travels there in the late 1920s when he observed the effects of Bolshevik rule upon the people, arts and economy.

Biographical / historical:

An English businessman who frequently visited Russia between 1908 and 1928. Trefusis was married to Violet Keppel, daughter of Edward VII's confidante, the Hon. Mrs. George Keppel. He spoke Russian fluently, and was close friends with many prominent Russians including Prince and Princess Yousoupoff.
