Moscow journalist who lived in France after 1920, worked for Sergeĭ Witte in 1905-6 as his assistant in charge of dealing with both Russian and foreign officials. Spasskiĭ-Odynet︠s︡ continued to serve as Witte's associate after the latter had retired. Spasskiĭ-Odynet︠s︡'s 510-page memoirs mainly concern his years with Witte and focus primarily on the Russo-Japanese War, the 1905 revolution, and Witte's relationship with the press. The last section of the memoirs covers from 1883 to 1920, touching, in some detail, on the revolutions of 1917 and the Civil War in St. Petersburg.
