The memoirs, which recount L. P. Sukachev's military career from 1917 through 1947, are recorded in two versions: an abbreviated typescript text, mounted in the form of a scrapbook and interspersed with original photographs; and an amplified mimeographed version clipped from the Russian-American emigre publication "Vestnik Pervopokhodnika" (Los Angeles) where it was serialized during the 1960's. Incorporated into Sukachev's memoirs is an account by a fellow officer, Colonel Vladimir Vladimirovich Berestovskii, entitled "Russkii Otriad v Albanskoi Armii."

A former tsarist officer who fought with the White forces in the Don region, then served as major in the Albanian army of king Ahmet Zogu and during World War II was a high ranking officer in the Italian army.
Vladimir Vladimirovich Berestovsky (1884 - 1944), staff captain of the 9th Kiev hussar regiment, hero of the First World War, participant of the White movement in the South of Russia, colonel. In exile in Yugoslavia. Served as a border guard. In 1924, as part of a detachment of Russian volunteers, participated in the Albanian campaign that brought Ahmet Zogu to power. Served in the Albanian army with the rank of colonel. Left memoirs of the actions of the Russian detachment in 1924.
