Diary kept by Carey while she was traveling in the Soviet Union in 1929; among the topics it deals with is Soviet law.

Biographical / historical:

Jane Perry Clark Carey (1898 -1981), Professor of government at Barnard College, M.A. 1922, Ph.D. 1931, author of "The Rise of a New Federalism." Was interested in refugees and population movement and worked for the government in the years following World War II. She was married to Andrew Galbraith Carey, also a political scientist.
