Subseries I.2: Subject Files contains Brinkley's research materials, organized primarily according to his original arrangement, with folders usually labeled by subject or source and year. The research material are primarily photocopies of archival sources (especially the Henry R. Luce papers and Time Inc. records at the New-York Historical Society, the Clare Booth Luce papers at the Library of Congress and the John Shaw Billings papers at the University of South Carolina), but also include some original copies of Time Inc. publications and scattered research notes.
