Eloy begins the interview by talking about his life in the countryside. He then recalls the arrival of the Revolution, the Agrarian Reform, and the 1970 harvest. Eloy describes the activities of the union. He also discusses racism in Granma

Biographical / historical:

Eloy nació en Granma, Cuba, en 1923. Debió dejar sus estudios cuando era un niño para dedicarse al trabajo en el campo. Trabajó como peón en un ingenio azucarero hasta 1972, hasta que un problema en su columna cervical lo forzó a desempeñarse en una tienda de materiales de construcción. Eloy tuvo cuatro hijos que pudieron asistir a la universidad. Eloy fue entrevistado para el proyecto que culminó en la publicación del libro How Things Fall Apart. El nombre es un seudónimo para el proyecto

Eloy was born in Granma, Cuba in 1923. He had to leave school when he was a child to work in the fields. He worked as a laborer in a sugar mill until 1972, when a cervical spine problem forced him to work in a construction materials store. Eloy had four children who were able to attend college. Eloy was interviewed for the project that led to the book How Things Fall Apart. The name is a pseudonym for the project
