In the interview, José recalls his childhood. He then compares the education he received with the education his children received. He also recalls the gender relations in his childhood. José discusses his time in the military and his jobs. José describes the risks to which rafters are exposed. José discusses racism and homosexuality

Biographical / historical:

José nació en Santiago de Cuba el 19 de noviembre de 1957. Su padre perteneció al Ejército Rebelde y su madre era ama de casa. Estudió para ser maestro. Ingresó al servicio militar en 1974. Se incorporó al Partido Comunista en 1992. Fue jefe de taller de los bomberos y trabajó en el Ministerio del Interior. Tuvo dos hijos. José fue entrevistado para el proyecto que culminó en la publicación del libro How Things Fall Apart. El nombre es un seudónimo para el proyecto

José was born in Santiago de Cuba on November 19, 1957. His father belonged to the Rebel Army and his mother was a homemaker. He studied to become a teacher. He entered the military service in 1974. He joined the Communist Party in 1992. He was a workshop chief in the fire department and worked in the Ministry of the Interior. He had two children. José was interviewed for the project that led to the book How Things Fall Apart. The name is a pseudonym for the project
