From the preface: "This is an inclusive list of grants made by the Corporation during the period beginning November 10, 1911, and closing September 30, 1936. It contains also a complete record of gifts made by Mr. Carnegie, before he established the Corporation, to universities, colleges, schools, etc., in the United States and the British Dominions and Colonies, as well as of grants for church organs and free public library buildings."

The series is open for research with the following standard embargoes: Series III.A Grants, Series III.B. Reports on Grants are embargoed twenty-five (25) years from the date the grant closed.
