Scope and content:

This collection contains audiocassette recordings of various theological conferences and events, including the Evangelical Women's Caucus, the First International Congress on the Meaning of Human Suffering, God's Call to a New Beginning Conference, and the 1986 and 1987 National Workshop on Christian Unity, among others.

Biographical / historical:

The Burke Library at Union Theological Seminary (UTS) was founded in 1836. For most of its history it was known as the Library of Union Theological Seminary, and in 1983 was renamed in honor of Walter Burke, a board member and generous benefactor of the Seminary. In 2004, the Burke Library became a member of the Columbia University Libraries system. Its historical and current collection strengths include: the history of Christianity and ancient Judaism, theology, biblical studies, ecumenical and interreligious history, and social ethics.
