Lis Harris is an American journalist and author and was for 25 years a staff writer on The New Yorker magazine. She is an associate professor of writing in Columbia University's MFA program. Her major publications include Holy Days: The World of the Hasidic Family (Touchstone books 1995), Rules of Engagement - Four Couples and American Marriage (Touchstone books 1996), and Tilting at Mills: Green Dreams, Dirty Dealings, and the Corporate Squeeze (Houghton Mifflin 2003). The scholarly value of this collection resides in Harris' research notes for the writing projects she has conducted throughout her career.
