Rose Styron (b. 1928) is a poet, journalist, and human rights activist. She served on the AIUSA Board Directors from 1973 to 1983 and as chair of the AIUSA National Advisory Council from 1984 to 1994. In addition to AIUSA, Styron has worked many other organizations including Human Rights Watch, Human Rights First, Equality Now, and PEN America. Many of her efforts relate to freedom of speech and expression in journalism, art, and writing. Styron is the author of four poetry collections; Fierce Day, By Vineyard Light, Thieves' Afternoon, and From Summer to Summer.
