This collection contains three boxes of 35mm photographic slides from Dorothy E. Pecht's years as a missionary in Nigeria and Liberia. Slides depict daily life in Africa, as well as the work of organizations with which Pecht was involved, including Eternal Love Winning Africa (ELWA) and the Sudan Interior Mission (SIM).

Dorothy E. Pecht was born in Milroy, Pennsylvania on February 28, 1921. Her parents, Orris and Sara Eva (Barger) Pecht had four other daughters: Eunice, Helen, Bertha, and Katherine. Pecht graduated from Milroy High School, Juniata College, and Moody Bible Institute. For four years she taught at Mount Union Elementary School. For 32 years, Pecht served as a missionary in Africa with Eternal Love Winning Africa (ELWA), an interdenominational Christian organization founded in 1952 and creator of the first Christian radio station in Africa (Radio ELWA), and with the Sudan Interior Mission (SIM), an international organization with missionaries in Asia, Latin American and Africa, originally created in 1893. After her return to the United States, Pecht attended Calvary Bible Church in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, and was a member of South Dalton Baptist Church in Dalton, Georgia. Dorothy E. Pecht died on April 27, 2012 in Lewistown, Pennsylvania at the age of 91.
