Scope and content:

This collection contains two VHS tapes: 1. a documentary by the Metallic Blue Goth chronicling the Portland Girl Convention, a three day festival in June 1996 of music, workshops, performances, and visual arts. The video features interviews and performances by Sleater-Kinney, the Third Sex, Madigan, and others 2. a video of Malaqueerche: Queer Punk Rock Show.

The collection also contains 8 t-shirts including a protest shirt from the San Francisco Anti-Capitalist Fashion Show circa 2002, band t-shirts including Dahlia Seed, Superchunk, Harum Scarum, Tracy and the Plastics.

Biographical / historical:

Sara Jaffe is a fiction writer living in Portland, OR. She co-edited The Art of Touring (Yeti, 2009), an anthology of writing and visual art by musicians drawing on her experience as guitarist for post-punk band Erase Errata. Sara holds a BA from Wesleyan University and an MFA from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
