The collection is comprised of administrative documents related to functions of the Student Government Association (SGA) including correspondence; constitutions and charters; budgets; programs and invitations for undergraduate officers' installation assemblies; notebooks; reports and precedent books; and meeting minutes and agendas for the Undergraduate Association, Board of Student Presidents, Student Council, and Representative Assemblies. Additionally, there are meeting minutes, reports and correspondence for a variety of committees. Other representative bodies present in the collection include the Representative Council and the Honor Board. There are also reports from a variety of student clubs and materials related to SGA events.

The Undergraduate Association was formed in 1892. Every student at Barnard College was a member of the Undergraduate Association. Between 1892 and the late 1960's, it was organized under three boards; Student Council (executive), Representative Assembly (legislative), and Honor Board (judicial). Since the 1990's the organization has been known as the Student Government Association (SGA). The SGA elects a representative student government, sponsors co-curricular activities, special events, and clubs reflecting the interests of the student body.
