Biographical / historical:

Susan Einhorn is a professional theatre director of over 90 productions of international and American classics and premieres of new plays, musicals, and operas. These productions were performed at New York City theatres (such as Promenade, Circle in the Square, Westside, Primary Stages, Playwrights Horizons, Vineyeard, La MaMa, Open Space, and Theater for the New City) as well as prominent regional theatres (Pittsburgh Public, Syracuse Stage, Arena Stage, Milwaukee Rep, Studio Theatre, and Whole Theatre).

Einhorn graduated cum laude from Barnard College in 1969 with honors in French and English. Though she attended prior to the creation of Barnard's theatre major, her theatrical career began after directing a project at the College's Minor Latham Playhouse. She proceeded to receive her MFA in Directing from Brooklyn College in 1972.

Einhorn remained an active educator concurrent to her directorial career. She taught theatre for 38 years at Queens College while serving as head of the acting program. She also served as the Drama, Theater, and Dance department chair for three years, created all of the acting courses in the drama curriculum, and directed 27 productions at the College. While she has retired as a college professor, she continues to work as a freelance director.
