The collection consists of photographs, clippings, and educational documents from the life of Margaret Wadds, Barnard class of 1931. It consists primarily of travel and snapshot photography, as well as older photographs and clippings from her childhood and early life.

Scope and content:

This collection consists of clippings, educational documents, ephemera, and photographs and photograph albums from the life of Margaret Wadds, Barnard class of 1931. The collection is primarily made up of photographs and albums documenting Margaret Wadds's travels, as well as snapshot photography and older photographs and clippings from her childhood as a semi-professional dancer.

Biographical / historical:

Margaret L. Wadds attended Barnard College from 1927 until 1931 and studied Spanish and Latin. She received a fellowship from Barnard to study at the Centro des Estudios Historicos in Madrid, Spain after graduation.

In her youth, Margaret was a great dancer and performed on many stages, semi-professionally. Photographs indicate that she continued to dance later in life, and it is possible that she danced with the Norwegian Folk Dance Society of New York.
