This collection is comprised of materials that document and promote the Department of Theatre's productions and events.
Materials include flyers, posters, programs, new clippings, press releases, analog and born digital photographs, slides, negatives, contact sheets, video recordings of events and performances, and one artifact, a dreidel.
Also included in this collection is "The First Steps in Speaking Verse," an undated script by Maude Adams which includes an anthology of poems.
From 1978-1992, the Department of Theatre kept programs, flyers, and other performance ephemera in scrapbooks, which comprise series 2 of this collection.

The Department of Theatre, Barnard College is the theater department for all undergraduate students at Columbia University, which includes Barnard and Columbia Colleges. There are multiple productions in the fall semester in addition to the final project for students in the Advanced Directing course. During the spring semester, the Department of Theater hosts the Senior Thesis Festival, a production directed by faculty or visiting artist, and an evening of Solo Performances. Performances of the Department of Theatre, Barnard College can take place in the Minor Latham Playhouse or the Glicker-Milstein Black Box Theater, both located on the Barnard campus.
