Abstract:: This collection consists of materials from the Barnard College French department.
Extent:: 0.315 Linear Feet (3 folders.) and 15.8 Gigabytes (1 video recording)

Scope and content:: This collection consists of invitation lists, pamphlets, event schedules, a single event recording, and a final exam from the French Department from 1945-2019. The bulk of the materials relate to two annual events: the International Conference on Translation (1985-1992) and the Barnard Conference on the Teaching of French (1949-1953).

Processing information:

This collection was processed and the finding aid written by Charlotte Kostelic in September 2015. In August 2025, Martha Tenney processed a digital accural. In September 2025, Olivia Newsome intellectually re-arranged this collection and updated the finding aid.

Finding aid adheres to that prescribed by Describing Archives: A Content Standard. Machine readable finding aid encoded in EAD 2002. Finding aid written in English.

Acquisition information:

Transferred from the French Department and the Office of the Director of Northeast Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Language. Event recording transferred from Instructional Media and Technology Services (IMATS) in 2025.

Arrangement:

The archivist chronologically arranged this collection in the finding aid. Additionally, the archivist completed high-level physical rearrangement to allow the digital materials to be easily integrated into a single system of arrangement. The archivist placed the digital documents, at the highest directory level, into a new folder with a new file name.
