The collection contains materials that document the Africana Studies Department at Barnard College. Included in the collection are flyers from film events circa 1997, two copies of a booklet from a 2012 Ntozake Shange performance and conference at the Diana Center, and event recordings and photographs.

The digital images document a 2004 event sponsored by the Africana Studies department at Barnard who hosted Black historian Michael Eric Dyson. They include photographs of Michael Eric Dyson and Barnard President Judith Shapiro.
