This collection consists of materials from the Barnard College Art History Department.

Scope and content:

The collection contains materials that document the history of the Art History Department at Barnard College. Included in this collection are flyers for lectures and film events, invitations to fundraisers, documents about the history of the department, a memorial memo, course information, and exam questions. There is some material from the Fine Arts Department which became part of the Art History Department in 1960. Also included are materials documenting exhibitions held in the James Room from 1957-1969. which were organized by Julius Held of the Fine Arts (and later Art History Deparment). These materials include correspondence, loan documentation, exhibition checklists and brochures, programs for openings, and clippings.
