The Blue Book Student Handbook Collection contains Barnard College's annualStudent Handbook, from 1904 - 2013. The Student Handbook is a brief yet extensive guide to the College, providing vital information, such as locations of offices and hours, listings of clubs/organizations and residential buildings, maps, various rules (dorm, fire safety, alcohol/drugs, etc.), among other information.

TheBarnard College Blue Book was an annual booklet originally published by the Barnard Christian Association. TheBarnard College Blue Book contained all the information thought to be relevant to student life. TheBarnard College Blue Book was renamed theBarnard Student Handbook in 1961, and was published by the Undergraduate Association. In the 1970s, the Office of Public Relations was in charge of publication and the handbook was referred to asA Guide to Barnard, then in 1983, as theBarnard Student Guide. In 1988, it became theBarnard Handbook and Student Guide, and contained a calendar/planner component. In 1990, the handbook was referred to as theBarnard College Calendar and Student Guide, and in 1997, theBarnard College Student Handbook. Presently, the handbook is called theStudent Handbook.
