Internal communications, 1976-1993

Scope and content:

Subseries 5.1, Internal Communications, represents a shift from the Academic and Administrative Departments subseries of previous presidential tenures. Internal Communications includes not only materials related to academic departments and administrative offices but also all communications related to internal Barnard College processes, including students and faculty.

Arrangement:

Subseries 5.1, Internal Communications, is further organized into two sub-subseries: Academic and Administrative Communications. 5.1.1, Academic Communications, contains materials related to faculty, students, academic departments, and academic happenings of Barnard College. 5.1.2, Administrative Communications, contains materials related to staff, administrative offices, and procedures of Barnard College. Materials throughout the subseries are arranged alphabetically.

Parent restrictions:
Some materials within this series are restricted: Material pertaining to individual student records is restricted for 75 years from the date of creation, in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Personnel records of faculty and staff (including search, tenure/promotion, and disciplinary/grievance records) are restricted for 75 years from the date of creation. Parent terms of access:
Permission to publish material from the collection must be requested from the Barnard Archives and Special Collections. The Barnard Archives and Special Collections approves permission to publish that which it physically owns; the responsibility to secure copyright permission rests with the patron.
