484 DVDsThis collection consists of 257 video recordings (from 484 dvds) capturing various GSAPP events conducted from 2005 to 2010. These events encompass lectures, debates, conferences, and symposia and feature practicing architects, architectural historians and theorists, preservationists, and other influential figures within the architectural field. Currently, we are in the process of digitizing these video recordings, and they will be accessible online to Columbia affiliates upon completion [anticipated summer 2024]. Additionally, these recordings will be made available to the public in our reading room. They have been organized chronologically, with undated recordings appearing at the end of the collection.

18.55 linear feetAn artificial collection of phonograph records, reels of audio tape recordings, and motion picture films recording a variety of Columbia University academic and extra-curricular activities and events such as lectures; speeches, some at award ceremonies; commencement; installation of Nicholas M. Butler and Dwight D. Eisenhower as presidents of the university; King George VI of England during his visit, 1939; speech of England's Queen Mother, Elizabeth in 1954; homecoming; football, the band; academic and alumni conferences; and radio programs under the auspices of Columbia. Many of the recordings are of Eisenhower. Other prominent personalities include John Foster Dulles, Herbert Hoover, Isidor Rabi, Eleanor Roosevelt, John R. Dunning, and the Shah of Iran.

Mostly comprised of papers written for conferences of the American Academy of Religion and the International Bonhoeffer Society, along with conference brochures, correspondence, and attendee lists. Also includes: journal articles; seminar papers; dissertations; newspaper clippings; a videotape of conference presentations; and a variety of texts and/or recorded performances constituting artistic tributes to Bonhoeffer, including an opera, concerts, plays, and poetry.

The collection primarily documents Tafel's professional activities and his later independent architectural career which was most prominent from 1965-1985. The collection is made up of nine series: Personal Papers, Correspondence, Writings, Professional Papers, Office Records, Project Records, Photographs and Slides, Audio-Visual Material, and Printed Material.
