Correspondence includes both personal and business letters, dealing with wildlife conservation, civic interests, and birding. There is some correspondence of George A. Hough, Sr., father of H.B. Hough, who was editor of the New Bedford MA Standard. Most of the correspondence is arranged alphabetically, by personal name or subject, out-going and in-coming filed together. Henry and Elizabeth Hough's correspondence, for which there are no in-coming or related letters, are filed chronologically. Cataloged correspondents include Calvin Coolidge, Max Eastman, Helen Keller, John F. Kennedy, Emily Post, and James Reston.

The collection contains several manuscript and proof materials for several of Selsam's books and numerous periodical articles, as well as note cards on philosophers and philosophies. Also, a subject file of Selsam's notes and areas of interest, and assorted printed and biographical material.

James Yen and the IIRR concerned with the development, sharing, and financing innovative methods of teaching, improving agriculture, health and family planning, and education in impoverished villages. The papers include manuscripts on Turgenev, Fet, Blok, Bolshevism, WWI, and enlightened absolutism, copies of correspondence between Turgenev and Fet, and of letters from I︠A︡.N. Polonskiĭ, Nicholas II, P. Annenkov, and others. Also included are a printed article about a lecture on Polonskiĭ and Fet given by Nikolśkiĭ to the Pushkin Circle of Petrograd University, and a brochure of L'Institute d'Etudes Slaves (Paris).

Iustinia Sushcheva's handwritten notebooks contain texts of lectures on history, literature, art, science and grammar delivered in the years 1868-1872. The lectures are recorded in both Russian and French, and, with the exception of four hand-written notebooks, they are in what appears to be hectograph format.
