This collection contains primarily correspondence related to Peisch's Ph.D. thesis on the work of Chicago architects associated with the Prairie School movement. Much of the material is about Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahony Griffin's work in the United States and Australia and includes letters from and about Marion Mahony Griffin, Francis Barry Byrne, William Gray Purcell, William L. Steele, and George Grant Elmslie. The collection also includes some photographs, clippings, lectures, and papers related to the later publication of Peisch's thesis in book form as "The Chicago School of Architecture: Early Followers of Sullivan and Wright" (New York : Random House, 1964). Lastly, the collection contains a small number of reference files, some gathered long after the completion of Peisch's thesis.

Papers covering Mayer's literary activities from approximately 1954-1983 and his versatile interests in music and recordings, the financial world, the advertising business, the legal profession, and public education. The collection includes his notes, interviews, drafts, manuscripts, typescripts, proofs, reviews, correspondence, and clippings for THE SCHOOLS; THE LAWYERS; MADISON AVENUE, U.S.A.; EMORY BUCKNER; DIPLOMA; WHERE, WHEN, AND WHY: SOCIAL STUDIES IN AMERICAN SCHOOLS; as well as several hundred essays published in ESQUIRE, HORIZON, the SATURDAY EVENING POST, and other magazines. Also, material dealing with Mayer's books on banking, television, music, and housing, and with his continuing interest in education and the New York City school system; and diplomacy and his Sloan Foundation study on cities and universities.

A collection of letters written by various people in the literary world and collected by Maude Morrison Frank. Among the correspondents are members of the family of William Makepeace Thackeray, as well as John Galsworthy, Sydney Cockerell, and Virginia Woolf. Included are 30 letters from Walter De la Mare to Miss Frank. There is also a copy of Miss Frank's book, GREAT AUTHORS IN THEIR YOUTH.

His information file of clippings, excerpts, and ephemera. Each item is carefully documented as to its place and date of publication. Many of these documentary markings are in a highly abbreviated form for which there is a key. The clippings are from such publications as THE AMERICAN MERCURY, ARBEITER-ZEITUNG, AVANTI, THE DAILY WORKER, THE HERALD TRIBUNE, L'HUMANITE, KOMMUNISTISCHE INTERNATIONALE, LE TEMPS, NEW MASSES, NEUER VORWAERTS, RABOTNIK, and many others. Much of the material is in various western European languages, but the majority is in English. The collection is arranged alphabetically by country and within these broad categories the material is either in a rough chronological arrangement or is grouped around specific topics. The clippings are not mounted but are placed loosely in a series of folders. Also included are two volumes of Nomad's essays entitled: THE ANARCHIST TRADITION AND OTHER ESSAYS; and, POST-MORTEMS AND POST-SCRIPTS. These anthologies of printed essays and photocopies of typescript essays were compiled by Nomad in 1967.

Correspondence, manuscripts, and documents relating to the printing firm of John Nichols and Son, covering a period from 1713, when the original firm of William Bowyer, the Elder (1663-1737), was burned, until the death of John Gough Nichols in 1873. The correspondence concerns primarily the social and domestic affairs of John Nichols (1745-1826) and of his family from 1766 to 1812. Scattered letters from business associates and minor authors are included, among them a group of letters from John Pridden (1758-1825), author and antiquary. The correspondence of John Bowyer Nichols (1779-1863) concerns the Nichols firm from 1799 to 1855. There are also several letters of, and relating to, William Bowyer (1699-1777), the senior partner of John Nichols. The collection also contains a volume of letters of condolence written at the time of John Nichols' death. The manuscripts in the collection consist primarily of the poetry of John Nichols, much of which was published in newspapers of the late 18th century. The manuscripts of John Bowyer Nichols concern his father and family. There are also contracts, bills, receipts, accounts, pamphlets, broadsides, engravings, and a group of 277 portraits.

The collection centers on Zierold's book, LITTLE CHARLEY ROSS, 1967, a re-examination of the first American kidnapping for ransom. Included are notes, research materials, illustrations, typescripts, proofs, reviews, and correspondence. Zierold has added the drafts, manuscripts, and typescripts of several of his plays and writings about Hollywood, including THE CHILD STARS, BABY MADGE, SWINGING FROM A CHANDELIER, DEATH IN HOLLYWOOD, THREE WOMEN IN BLACK, THE SEX GODDESSES, and NOT BEFORE BREAKFAST.

Architectural drawings and specifications for Codman's projects, circa 1890s-1930s, including the Martha Codman house in Washington, D.C.; alterations for Edith Wharton and her husband at their three residences, the Mount in Lenox, Mass., Land's End in Newport, R.I., and their Park Avenue home in New York City; work for the Thayer family of Boston, Mass., specifically Nathaniel Thayer's three homes in Boston, Lancaster, Mass., and Newport, R.I. ("Edgemere"), Bernard Thayer's Beacon Hill houyse in Boston, and Eugene Van Rensselaer Thayer's two houses in Boston and Lancaster, Mass.; the Lucy Dahlgren house in New York City; the Archer M. Huntington house on Fifth Avenue in New York City; interior design for John D. Rockefeller in his house "Kykuit" at Pocantico Hills, N.Y.; interior design work for the Vanderbilt family including Cornelius Vanderbilt's "Breakers" at Newport, R.I. and Frederick William Vanderbilt's mansion in Hyde Park, N.Y. and his house on Fifth Avenue in New York City; Oliver Ames' mansion at Pride's Crossing, Beverly, Mass., and his house in Boston; and interior decoration and alterations for Codman's own homes in Newport, R.I. and Roslyn, N.Y. and his villa in France, "La Leopolda", at Villefranche-sur-Mer.
