Architectural drawings for residence, public and commercial buildings, churches, university buildings, and other structures, ca. 1880s-1925, many of which are located in Maine. These were done by Stevens while working independently, in partnership with his son John Howard Stevens, and while a member of architectural firms Fassett and Stevens (with offices in Portland, Maine and Boston, Mass.) and Stevens and Cobb. One unidentified photograph of a house is included. Also included are drawings Stevens did for the book EXAMPLES OF AMERICAN DOMESTIC ARCHITECTURE.

This collection includes one drawing, ink and wash on paper, of the Soldiers' and Sailors' Memorial; a drawing in ink and wash on paper of the Trenton War Memorial; and 17 drawings, graphite on tracing paper, of the Kemble Building, located at 15-25 Whitehall Street in Manhattan. Eight boxes of office records that include correspondence concerning buildings for the Goelet Estate, Cadillac Hotel, and Grant's Tomb, and a postcard to architectural renderer Hughson Hawley. Also included is a diary and an album of family photographs and architectural projects.

The collection consists of 7 ink-on-mylar and 3 ink-on-paper renderings dating from the mid-1970s to the mid-1990s. The drawings are detailed aerial studies of various cityscapes, many of which were publiced as illustrations to articles Desmond wrote for the Journal of the American Institute of Architects. These albums contain mounted black-and-white photographic prints documenting historic sites and structures along the East Coast of the United States, from the South to New Hampshire, created and collected by architect and historian John Mead Howells. These albums appear to have been created as reference sources for Howell's publications LOST EXAMPLES OF COLONIAL ARCHITECTURE (New York, W. Helbrvn, 1931), THE ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE OF THE PISCATAQUA (New York: Architectural Book Publishing Company, 1937), and THE ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE OF THE MERRIMACK (New York: Architectural Book Publlishing Company, 1941). However, many additional images may be found in these albums than were used in these publications. The images were taken during the second half of the 19th-century and the early 20th-century of historic buildings and sites constructed during the 18th- and 19th-centuries. Most images have annotations and caption information in typescript or in Howell's own hand. Howells collected most of the images from a variety of sources, including the Frank Cousins image collection at the Essex Institute, the Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, architect Ogden Codman, and the Historic American Buildings Survey. The remainder were taken by Howells himself.

Architectural drawings for projects designed by Vegezzi, and drawings made by Vegezzi while he worked as a draftsman in the offices of Kenneth Franzheim and Allan B. Mills, Associate Arch.; Holabird and Root and Burgee; Benjamin Wistar Morris III; Rosenthal, Dessesls and Jones; Trylon Studios; and particularly McKim, Mead & White (81 drawings, 1923-1942).

This collection contains documents, statements, minutes, correspondence, notes, and reference materials related to the activities of the Joint Advisory Committee on Planning and Development of the United Nations Headquarters. Although materials relating to Wallace Harrison appear in this collection, there is otherwise no direct connection between this group of papers and the team of international architects who designed the Headquarters.
